Whats the difference between food stamps and food stamp cash?

I was just curious b/c I use to work as a cashier and I had some people come in that used the food stamp card for groceries and some who pressed food stamp cash to pay with the card. How does that work and what is the difference? Also can you get cash back from a food stamp card?|||I looked at your question, hoping to see what an answer to this would be. But, my guess is that ones that qualify for a program for both cash and food stamps would have it put all on the same card. I hope you get your answer for more information.
