gave them. and person "b" only had $1400 in the account and the check was written to person "a" in the amount of $1700.
what will happen?
will person "a" still receive the $1700 and person "b" have a negative account balance of $300?
or will th entire check bounce when person "a" tries to cash it?|||The entire check will bounce. The bank won't give "a" anything.|||If you cash a check and the person who wrote you the check doesn't have funds to cover it (bad check), you are almost always out of luck. This is why you should insist on money orders or cashier's checks for large amounts. Most likely your bank will cash it and give you the money, but if you spend it and they find out later that their aren't funds to cover it, they will pull the funds from your account, putting you into overdraft and leaving you in trouble. Don't do it!|||very likely the check will not be cashed|||If A goes to the bank for cash, A will not receive cash. If A deposits the check, the check will be returned to B for nonsufficient funds and A will not get anything.
Some banks have overdraft policies, in which case if A deposits the check into his own bank account, the bank for B will send the money but B will have an overdraft to deal with.
